The secondary allocation procedure is sent out to parents by the Chief Education Officer at the start of the child’s final year at Primary School. Foundation schools are independent of the L.E.A. and will also send details of their admission procedure.
We have good relationships with our secondary schools and encourage links between the two phases. We aim for each child to have acquired the skills and attitudes needed to meet the challenge of secondary schooling. Making the right choice is not always easy. Please contact us if you would like any guidance.
For more information regarding the transfer to secondary school please go the Gloucestershire County Council website

Primary Transition Transfer Information
Parents and children are welcome to visit KLB School at any time, simply telephone or email to request a suitable day and time. We hold an Open Evening in September (see the school calendar for the exact date each year) where the Headteacher, Mr. Harris, gives a talk about the school and parents are welcome to visit all areas of the school with their Year 6 children. Students and staff are on hand to answer questions and visitors can see displays of students’ work. A school prospectus will be made available at the Open Evening but one can be requested at any time by contacting the school or a copy can be downloaded from the home page of their website.
Open Evening – Monday 15 October 2018 4:30-7:30pm (no need to pre-register) 9am or 9:30am
An opportunity to visit the school in a more informal setting. Arrive for the Headteacher’s introductory speech at 4:30pm, then follow the ‘Marling Challenge Trail’ taking part in hands-on demonstration in the classrooms. Meet teachers and existing students along the way. It’s an ideal introduction to the school for Year 5 pupils and a great opportunitiy for Year 6 pupils to see the school before completion of the Local Authority’s Common Application Form. The Headteacher’s introductory speech is repeated at 5:30pm and, again, at the close of the evening at 7:30pm.
Open Mornings – 2019 dates to be advised (April & June usually) arrive for 9 or 9:30am
Arrive at the School Hall for either 9 or 9:30 to hear the headteacher’s introductory speech followed by a student-led tour of the school. If you are limited for time, please do let your guide know so that you can prioritise areas of the school that you would like to see the most. You will be viewing the school on a normal working day with the majority of staff teaching lessons.
Marshalled car parking at the School Hall Field (otherwise there is a car park situated behind the shop area off the Cainscross roundabout, a short walk from school, or along the Cainscross Road). Please avoid using the Sports Hall carpark.
