On Monday 16th December every class in the school visited the beautifully decorated Outdoor Classroom for ‘Forest Church at Christmas’. The Year Six children retold the story of Jesus’ birth and the children spent a quiet moment reflecting on the story and imagining what the stable would have looked like. Then they were challenged to make a representation of the scene using the natural materials around them. The session ended with prayers, some written by the children. Afterwards the children said that they felt closer to God outside as he created nature. It made them think about Jesus being an actual person and they enjoyed being in the fresh air where they found peace and calm. Lots of children used acorns from the oak tree and some thought this was special as there is new life inside an acorn and Jesus came to bring new life.
