World Book Day Thursday 3rd March
‘Reading for Pleasure is the single biggest indicator for success in life, more than family circumstances, educational background or income.’
(Organisation for Economic Co-operation & Development).
Despite this, ‘reading for pleasure is at its lowest level since 2005!’ (National Literacy Trust).
So here at Leonard Stanley Primary, we’d like to promote reading for pleasure by celebrating World Book Day in school on Thursday 3rd March 2022. Children will be taking part in various fun book-themed activities throughout the day. There are ideas for home too – see https://www.worldbookday.com/ for more details.
To make the day extra special, we would like to encourage children to dress up as a character from their favourite book to celebrate the day. Please can they bring a copy of the book into school to share too.
All children will be given a book token which will enable them to claim a World Book Day book for FREE or receive £1 off a book priced £2.99 or more so look out for these in book bags.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping to encourage our children to become avid lifelong readers.
