Admissions
In Gloucestershire children can start primary/infant school/academy, if their parents wish, in the September of the school year in which they become five.
You must apply to Gloucestershire County Council for a primary school place, even if you have put your name down at our school or your child has an older sibling at our school.
Every year, there are parents who do not put in an Application Form for their child as they believe they do not need to do so, having put their child’s name down at their preferred school.
Others don’t apply as they think that their child will be automatically admitted to the school their older brother and sister attends or to the school that the child’s nursery or pre-school is linked to.
An application must be made to the Gloucestershire County Council for every child starting school in the month of September.
Parents can apply online 24 hours a day, seven days a week from November until midnight on 15 January (in year of entry) or by completing a paper form which can be downloaded from the GCC site or requested from Gloucestershire County Council’s Co-ordinated Admissions on 01452 425407. Parents will be contacted directly by letter from GCC with details on how to apply.
The Headteacher and staff will be pleased to show prospective parents around the school. Time is set aside for this in the Autumn Term at an Open Day, or by arrangement at a later date prior to entry.
During this period the school staff will liaise with Leonard Stanley Early Years and other local playgroups and may meet children in their pre-school environment and at home.
How to apply for an in-year admission
Parents and Guardians should complete an in-year application form (linked below) and send this to our School Office for consideration of a place.
Please apply directly to Leonard Stanley Primary School as Gloucestershire County Council do not coordinate In-Year Admissions for our school.
