The Eco Action Team (Eco-schools)
Leonard Stanley C of E Primary School is currently a Bronze Level Award holder within Eco-Schools and it is our goal to attain the highly regarded level of “Green Flag Award” in sustainability.
Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life.
The Eco-Schools programme is focused on ten key topics. These are:
Biodiversity
Energy
Global Citizenship
Healthy Living
Litter
Marine
School Grounds
Transport
Waste
Water
Eco-Schools follow a simple seven-step process which helps them to address a variety of environmental themes, ranging from litter and waste to healthy living and biodiversity.
Pupils are the driving force behind Eco-Schools – they form and help lead the Eco-Committee and help to carry out an audit to assess the environmental performance of the school. In conjunction with the rest of the school and the wider community, it’s the pupils (from Y2 to Y6) that decide the environmental themes they want to address and how they’re going to do it. They are supported in their efforts by the school’s Science Leader.
