Identifying and surveying birds – Y6
As part of our Science topic about Inheritance and Evolution, Year Six have been learning how to classify organisms according to their physical characteristics. We took our learning outside and combined our Science knowledge with a survey of birds across our school grounds, ultimately to obtain results for the RSPB’s ‘Big Garden Birdwatch’. Working in pairs or small groups, we covered a wide area of our school site; observing, identifying and recording the local birds. Despite a shower of rain, we had fun exploring and taking notice of wildlife around us: a definite well-being boost!
