Local history walk and farm visit – Y6
Year Six have been enjoying the great outdoors again! We walked from school past Stanley Mill, crossed the Stroudwater Navigation and continued through Stonehouse – taking in various aspects of local history along the way (especially those linked to our current topic about World War Two). Our day trip included a visit to Horsemarling Farm where we learnt about dairy farming and met a whole range of animals: cows, calves, ponies, geese, ducks, chickens… and a dog! We were treated to delicious milkshakes courtesy of Stonehouse Milk (thank you so much!) and enjoyed toasting s’mores over a firepit. There was also an opportunity to hike over the fields and appreciate a majestic 500-year-old oak tree.
