The secondary allocation procedure is sent out to parents by the Chief Education Officer at the start of the child’s final year at Primary School. Foundation schools are independent of the L.E.A. and will also send details of their admission procedure.
We have good relationships with our secondary schools and encourage links between the two phases. We aim for each child to have acquired the skills and attitudes needed to meet the challenge of secondary schooling. Making the right choice is not always easy. Please contact us if you would like any guidance.
For more information regarding the transfer to secondary school please go the Gloucestershire County Council website
Grammar School Entry
You will need to contact your preferred grammar school direct to find out how to apply or for results of any tests. For information regarding key dates go to the Gloucestershire County Council website
The seven Gloucestershire Grammar Schools are planning to hold the Entrance Test as planned on Saturday the 12th of September. Each school will ensure that all guidance on social distancing and hygiene are fully implemented at each testing site. If the date of the Entrance Test has to be changed in light of revised Governmental guidance, then all parents/careers who have registered their child to sit the Entrance Test, will be notified of that change in advance of the 12th of September.
The results of this test will be emailed to parents in October. This will enable you to have the information you need before your completion of the CAF (Common Application Form) for Gloucestershire County Council.

It is with regret we are unable to hold our usual Open Evenings/Mornings. However, you can begin your consideration of Maidenhill as the school of choice for your son/daughter by taking a look at our 2021 admission prospectus. In addition, I would encourage you to visit our ‘Celebrating Success’ link to see some of our students’ achievements and also to view our most recent newsletter.
To further help your decision making, we plan to hold a ‘Virtual Open Evening’. This will be available via YouTube and a link to this will go on to our website in due course. You will be able to hear directly from Mrs Wilson our Headteacher about her vision for the school and find out more about Maidenhill from various sources including the students themselves. At the same time, we will release a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ (FAQ) document that will give additional information about the school. Should you have further questions after reading these documents, please email our dedicated email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. Questions we receive will be added to the FAQ document which will be updated on a weekly basis.
Maidenhill school wishes you and your son/daughter all the very best for the forthcoming academic year and we hope to be able to welcome you to Maidenhill in September 2021.
